Hay site, original staff, parents and concernedcommunity members fought to keep our centre open. Our licensingagent, Pat Tretina volunteered her Sunday to come to Kingston Pre-school tolicense our daycare so we could open thefollowing Monday morning, April 3rd,2000. Welcome to Something Special Children's Centre. Located in theheart of downtownKingston, our centre is licensed by the Ministry ofCommunity and Social Services to provide quality care for children frominfancy to Something Special 12 years of age, with aBefore/After School Care program. When the former Kingston Daycare Inc.closed the R.H. Our volunteer board ofdirectors is comprised Canada of parents and community members. Today wehave over 50children daily including several children with special needsin our integrated environment. Within a year, enrollment increased to near capacity- fulfilling a much needed service for Kingston families in thedowntown area. In recent years, Something Canada SpecialChildren's Centre has undergone several physical improvements such asnew flooring, new kitchen counter and dishwasher, new bathroomfixtures, new paint throughout when we opened in 2000 and playgroundupdates based on annual inspections. Our curriculum has been developed to provide appropriateprogramming. We ensure this quality by periodically reviewing andmodifying Kingston preschools our programs to best meet the needs of each child. We celebrate life and encourage curiosity of the wonders of life.Our programs offer a stimulating and creative environment where allchildren are free toexplore in a safe, nurturing and stableenvironment. We now offer a weekly musicprogramwith Canadian child development M.Cooper, a Kindermusic teacher
